The expression: “Drop the Ball”

Hey there students!

I hope you’re having a productive week

I was in class with a student 👥📚 yesterday and made a small mistake while I was typing ⌨

I quickly apologized and said:

Sorry, I dropped the ball

What does that mean?

It means a made a mistake, something incorrect and noticed it.

So instead of saying: “I made a mistake” I said “I dropped the ball, sorry”

Attention: It is an informal idiom

Do not use it at work meetings or formal situations. 🚫
